Most ovulating women in the village were not in the habit of using sanitary napkins- both for lack of awareness and access to napkins. We got a state health department social worker to brief all women in the village about the importance of menstrual hygiene. Several women attended and have shown interest in using them. The TNWDC (Tamil Nadu women Development Corporation) has agreed to give us a free supply of pads. We have received 2 shipments – a total of 1600 pads to being with which should suffice the village for a period of 3 months.
